[Cattle] Bad Manners

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by on 31-07-2008

The black-white guys are seemed to be rude. Besides they like to fight…

They don’t concern traffic light or people when cross the road.

Moreover, see the one on the top-right…

The posture is so funny.

Industrialism Rusts

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by admin on 31-07-2008

At world’s end, we are mired out of place, treading through chopped forests of television fiction, clearcuts.  The sun is hot and the cattle crammed, force-fed corn and cattle bones, ground-up, ground brains.  We get upset and scared when one of us catches Mad Cow Disease or E. Coli by eating that sacrilege, but should we be surprised?  And what right do we have to string up and de-beak thousands of screaming chickens, what right to depress their lives by contorting them to fit wire cages?  And this can also be a metaphor for the human being educated in an industrial system.
The chainsaw sings, not a song, but a sustained battle cry.  Engines rage.  All the while topsoil depletes, proliferating weeds which insult agribusiness and must be sprayed with laboratory-made poisons.  Monsanto reigns with Round-Up Ready corn and soybeans, charging farmers up front while stuffing coffers with kick-backs from taxes.
But [...]

Lights and Fittings

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by admin on 31-07-2008

Due to the hot weather and other commitments, I’ve been going out quite late in the evening for some ‘quiet time’ by the river and in the parks.  As a result, it begins to get dark on the cycle home so I’ve been thinking about getting some lights for the Dahon.
I managed to find my Cateye TL-LD600 rear light which I bought about three years ago and barely used.  This light is in ‘as new’ condition so there was no need to buy a new rear light but I had to order a front light so I opted for the Cateye TL-LD150 front light (not delivered at time of writing, order from Tredz).
The next thought was how to mount these lights.  Fortunately these two lights use Cateye’s quick release system so all I needed were the correct mounting fixtures.  The two lights do come with their own mounting fixtures but I [...]

The Camargue

The Camarge

The Camargue
I had decided to write a long peice on the Camargue. However the shortened version is this. It is famous for flamingos, bulls and wild horses. We saw all three in abundance and ended up in a sea side town called St Maries sur la mer.
Here one company seems to own both campsites and has a monopoly. As a result their staff do not need to be polite or even pleasant. For the most expensive night yet (19E) we had a small patch of sand within 50m of the local Euro-trash disco. To be fair the disco met an abrupt end at midnight when the bouncers waded in.
If you are looking for sun sand and want to pretend to be a bull rancher (for a price), if you want to pay well over the odds for your food and to be treated like scum then St Maries sur [...]

[Callte] Mind the Catlle

If you walk or cycle thorough the here, you may need to mind the cattle.

When walk in the Sheeps Green, you may need to ask them to give way.

Unlike mute swans don’t like people get too close to them, the cattle just ramp around the here, regardless of people.

Sometimes they move to another place together, may scale some tourists.

They are seemed gentle, but they actually just discard other animals.

Puncture Repair

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by admin on 30-07-2008

No, I haven’t had my first puncture on the Dahon but I just read a great post on the Dahon website forum.  The topic was in relation to wheeling a Dahon Curve to a bus stop after the guy had a puncture.  One of the helpful posts which subsequently appeared on the forum gave this great advice:
You’re out in the middle of nowhere and a looong, long way from any bus stops. And it’s miles and miles from ‘civilisation’, ie., no help, in any direction. Repair patches all used up, no good anyway, because the pump’s just gone kaput!
So, what to do?
Take the tyre off the rim - no need to remove the wheel if it’s one of those complicated rear wheel combinations - AND pack as much roadside grass as you possibly can into the tyre. It’ll protect the rim and surprisingly, (depending on how much grass you were [...]

The True Hipster Bike Shop

Ok, If you u know me well enough you know I ride a motorcycle and I have a single-speed bike…Its a nice-ass bike too.  A specializied langer boston edition that I got on the cheap at a snobby bike shop that shall go unmentioned.  They were really trying to get rid of them and would rather sell carbon fiber $5000 bikes/frames than sell anything that regular people could buy… (Disclaimer:  I don’t have anything against expensive bikes but I do have a problem with Bike Snobs/Sales People looking down at average guy wanting transportation and not wanting to break the bank to do it)
Recently, I needed to have some work done on it and I really didn’t want to take it to these shops that will charge an arm and a leg…So as I was getting work done on my motorcycle I spotted a shop called [...]

Bio c’est beau

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by admin on 29-07-2008

Uberman Sleeping Starts Here

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by admin on 29-07-2008

I am currently working on adjusting to the Uberman polyphasic sleep schedule.  A buddy of mine is trying it too - with two of us going, maybe we’ll succeed.
The lowdown:

Napping Schedule:  2:00am/pm, 6:00am/pm, 10:00am/pm for 23 minutes.
I have a flexible work schedule, so arranging sleep cycles isn’t a problem.
I am not vegetarian/vegan as some poly-sleepers are, but I eat very healthy already.
I work out - sometimes with weights, sometimes cardio.

I have been at this for 3 days, when the thought occurred to me that I should post my experience with this just in case other people might get something out of it.  Like the blog-name suggests, I am a ‘creative’.  I’d like to have more time to work on things, so this schedule is obviously very appealing to me.
A brief summery of the history of this:
Starting out
I started out on this on the 26th with the 2am nap.  [...]

Peking 2008 - Olympia für Tour de France Fahrer

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by admin on 29-07-2008
